In keeping with the motto “Setting the course for tomorrow” future trends and prospects were in the focus during the STAHL 2015 Annual Meeting on November 12th, 2015: Industry 4.0, steels for the energy revolution, energy efficiency, or the topic “Future requirements from environmental, climate and resource policy”, for which Anke Rehlinger, Saarland’s minister for economic affairs, labor, energy and transport was among the speakers.
One of the most popular talks, “On the path to Steel 4.0” was presented by Dr. Karlheinz Blessing, chairman of Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl. His conclusion (although some things are still at the very beginning and at the same time not all is new): “On the basis of its complex production processes, its long value-added chain and the highly competitive situation the steel industry is qualified for the subject Industry 4.0 in a special way. Here, the potential is enormous.
